Endowed Gifts
Endowed gifts are directed to permanent investments called endowed funds, established with an agreement between LAU and the donor. A gift to an endowed fund will be invested so that it can continue to generate income for generations to come. If you are interested in establishing a new endowment, we would love to help you! Please reach out to a Development officer to learn more about creating an endowed fund for a specific program or scholarship.
Some examples of endowed funds include:
- Funds for scholarships like The Janet and William A. Stoltzfus Jr. Endowed Scholarshp Fund, dedicated to students who demonstrate work in service.
- Research grants for students, like the Suad Joseph Undergraduate Student Research Endowment in Women and Gender Studies in the Arab Region.
- Endowed professorships, such as the newly established Edmond D. Villani Professorship in Economics at the Adnan Kassar School of Business.
- Endowed research center funds, like the Dr. Moise Khayrallah Endowed Fund which provides ongoing funding for the Pharmaceutical and Medical Research Center.
- Named spaces, such as the transformative gift made by Ray Debbane to support the LAU New York Debbane Campus.
Current Use Gifts
Current Use Gifts can be spent right away and are hugely important to LAU’s day-to-day operation. If there is a program at LAU that you care about deeply, your gift can be used to make a difference now. For instance, money gifted to the Financial Aid Fund will be used to provide immediate tuition support for a current student in need. Our Impact Now page has many examples of current funding opportunities, but you can also contact one of our Development officers if you have questions about how to make your gift. If there is an emergent need on campus, your gift will make it possible for us to meet it as quickly as possible.
Some examples of current use gifts include:
- Scholarships for students, like the Elias Boutros Sayah Annual Scholarship Grant or Alexis & Anne-Marie Habib Foundation Designated Scholarship Grant.
- Creating a lecture series like AiW’s Prioritizing Peace, Women and Mental Health within the Arab Region.
- Support during a crisis, like the Vaccination & Covid-19 Response Fund or Emergency Relief for Lebanon.
- Or our most common destination, the Financial Aid Fund.
