Endowed Gifts

Endowed gifts are made to Lebanese American University with the understanding that they will be invested in a specific endowed fund. Endowed funds are permanent investment funds that generate income to support a charitable institution, with the income allocated according to the intent of the donor and the gift agreement. These gifts are important to LAU because we know that we can depend upon them in the long term. A gift to an endowed fund will not be spent now but rather will be invested so that it can continue to generate income for generations to come.

Gifts can be made to an existing endowment, or an agreement can be signed to create a new endowed fund. If you are interested in establishing a new endowment, we would love to help you! Please reach out to a Development officer to learn more about creating an endowed fund for a specific program or scholarship. We are always thrilled when one of our donors creates a new endowed fund, because it means that their gift will keep giving long into the future.

Expendable Gifts

Expendable gifts are donations to the Lebanese American University whose funds can be spent right away. For instance, money gifted to the Financial Aid Fund will be used to provide immediate tuition support for a current student in need. There are many existing programs and scholarships that need expendable funds, or you can mark your gift to be used where the need is greatest.

Expendable gifts are hugely important to LAU’s day-to-day operation. If there is a program at LAU that you care about deeply, your expendable gift can be used to make a difference now. Our “Impact Now” page has many examples of current funding opportunities, but you can also contact one of our Development officers if you have questions about how to make your gift. If there is an emergent need on campus, expendable gifts will make it possible for us to meet it as quickly as possible.
